Michael has over ten years of practical experience in the legal field. He is licensed to practice law in Ontario and has worked in both private practice and as in-house counsel.

His areas of expertise include real estate, wills and estates, small claims, and immigration and refugee law. Michael is committed to creating high-quality content for law firms that is practical and useful for everyday legal practice.

As the Managing Editor, Michael oversees all publications produced by By Lawyers.

Nancy received her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law in 2018 and was called to the Bar in 2019. 

As a lawyer, Nancy has a special interest in crown liability and is involved in interesting and notable cases involving class action litigation and solicitor’s negligence.  She has appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Justice. 

Nancy has served on the board of directors of the Ontario Bar Association. She is the former chair of the OBA’s Young Lawyers Division. Due to her love for all things appeals, Nancy also sits on the interventions committee at the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. 

Nancy is pursuing her PhD in law at Osgoode Law School.

Alexandra Carr is a partner at Lenkinski, Hooper & Carr LLP, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Alex has a broad practice in all areas of family law, including high-conflict parenting issues and complex financial matters. She is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers with experience in jurisdictional issues and Hague convention cases. She is a strategic litigator who has successfully represented clients at all levels of court in Ontario. Wherever possible, she strives to resolve family conflicts out of court through negotiation and alternative methods of dispute resolution.

Alex has contributed to the Family Law publication.

Emeka holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa, where he undertook intensive research in international economic law. He is licensed to practice law in Ontario and Nigeria. He is experienced in risk management, corporate law, legal analysis, and legal drafting.

Emeka contributed to the Corporations, Wills and Lifetime Planning and Estate Administration publications.

Zakir is a corporate attorney with experience in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). His specialty is contract law, corporate law and structure, legal documentation, Civil Law, and Immigration. He currently works with clients in Canada and the US and has offices in Toronto, Canada and Manama, Bahrain.

Zakir has contributed to the Business Sale and Purchase publications.

Udani is the Principal Lawyer and Founder of Perera Law Group. She is licensed to practice law in Alberta and Ontario, with a Juris Doctor Degree from the Faculty of Law of Queen's University in Kingston and a BA in Law and Society from York University. Udani's practice focuses on litigation, specializing in immigration and family law.

Udani has contributed to the Family Law publications.

David maintains a busy real estate and property law practice. Based in Ontario, he works with clients to navigate the potential pitfalls of real estate law. He regularly acts for first-home buyers, moms and dads, investors, and developers.

David has contributed to the Real Estate publications.

In her previous role as General Manager of By Lawyers Canada, Kate lived and worked in Toronto for several years, supporting our authors in applying the By Lawyers style to our Canadian publications. She has extensive experience in a general practice law firm. After qualifying as a licensed conveyancer in 2005, Kate completed the LPAB and was admitted to practice as a lawyer in 2014. 

Kate is passionate about providing industry-leading content for law firms. As one of the original team members at By Lawyers, she works closely with our software developers to leverage technology to enhance delivery and user experience while staying ahead of industry trends in legal publishing.

A general practice lawyer for over 50 years, Guy is also highly experienced in business and is the co-founder of By Lawyers Global Publishing. As the original author of many By Lawyers publications, he is one of the most widely read legal authors in Australia and maintains active oversight of all By Lawyers publications.

Guy’s extensive legal and commercial experience is reflected in the practical, client-oriented focus that is the hallmark of By Lawyers.

Danni developed her management and communications skills in merchant banking and journalism before co-founding By Lawyers Global Publishing. A ground-breaking online publisher and talented legal author, Danni has contributed to many By Lawyers publications. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a law degree.

Danni managed a busy legal practice – an experience that drove her desire to make the practice of law more enjoyable.

Before joining the By Lawyers team, Doug practised as a litigation, commercial, and property lawyer. Highly client-focused and commercial, Doug plays a critical role in shaping By Lawyers’ vision and goals, keeping By Lawyers at the forefront of the legal publishing industry and providing high-quality legal resources and solutions to clients globally.

Paul’s experience working in small law firms helps him to bring a practical focus to his role at By Lawyers. Paul is focused on the needs of the profession and helping lawyers enjoy practice more.

Paul is responsible for overseeing By Lawyers’ day-to-day operations.
