The will precedents and library of clauses have been reviewed and updated to ensure clarity and uniformity across all the will precedents. Updates to the automation have also been made.

Amendments to the Land Titles Act 2000 come into force on October 20, 2024. These amendments significantly increase registration fees for land transfers and mortgages. The amendments are detailed in s 5 of the Financial Statutes Amendment Act, 2024, SA 2024, c 4. The increased registration fees only apply to specific instruments submitted for registration on or after October 20, 2024. Instruments submitted for registration before October 20, 2024, continue to incur registration fees calculated by the Tariff of Fees Regulation, Alta Reg 120/2000. By Lawyers publications in Alberta have been amended to reflect these legislative changes.

The Court of King’s Bench has started a pilot project allowing for a trial date to be set earlier in the litigation process. Publications have been updated to include the procedural steps and requirements for an application to set a trial date under this pilot project.

From June 1, 2024, lawyers must file general filing and claims documents for Family Law actions through the King’s Bench Family and Divorce Filing Digital Service. Publications have been updated to reflect this new mandate.

From April 8, 2024, the original will and testamentary documents part of a Surrogate Digital Service application must be sent to the wills repository in Edmonton by registered mail. The publications have been updated in line with the change.
